Vermont Respiratory Therapy CE Requirements

12 Hours every 2 years - Total CE requirement for license renewal

Total Requirement: 12 contact hours of continuing education are required every renewal period (biennium).
Formal / Didactic Requirement (The 50% Rule): At least 6 hours (50%) must be 'Category I' or formal didactic education. This typically includes live conferences, workshops, or real-time interactive webinars where you can ask questions.
Online / Self-Study Limit: A maximum of 6 hours (50%) may be obtained through 'non-didactic' methods, such as self-paced online courses, recorded videos, or journal studies.
Mandatory Topics: There are currently 0 specific mandatory course topics (e.g., no ethics or patient safety requirement) for standard renewal. Courses must simply be related to the practice of respiratory care.
Approved Sponsors: Courses approved by the AARC (American Association for Respiratory Care), the Vermont / New Hampshire Society for Respiratory Care, or AMA Category I providers are accepted.
First Renewal Exception: If you are renewing for the first time, your requirements are prorated: 6 hours are required for each full year you have held the license. (e.g., If licensed for <1 year, 0 hours are required; if >1 year but <2 years, 6 hours are required).
