New Hampshire Respiratory Therapy CE Requirements

12 Hours every 2 years - Total CE requirement for license renewal

• Total Requirement: 12 contact hours of continuing professional competence are required for every 2-year license period. (Note: This is a recent update; previous regulations required 24 hours. Always verify your specific dashboard, but current Plc 1507.04 text states 12 hours).
• Clinical Requirement (The 50% Rule): At least half (6 hours) of the required contact hours must relate directly and primarily to the clinical application of respiratory care.
• Live/Interactive Requirement: While the Board allows online education, regulations typically define 'Live Programming' as education where you can ask questions in real-time. It is highly recommended to complete at least 50% (6 hours) via 'Live' formats, which includes Real-Time Interactive Webinars. Pre-recorded videos generally do not count as 'Live'.
• Approved Sponsors: Courses must be approved by the AARC, AMA, or other recognized professional respiratory organizations.
• General Topics: The remaining hours (up to 6) can be in non-clinical topics such as respiratory care education, supervision/management, research, or trans-disciplinary skills.
• Documentation: You must retain proof of completion (certificates) for at least 4 years (two full renewal cycles).

New Hampshire License Renewal Process

1. Expiration Date: New Rule: Licenses expire every 2 years on the last day of the month in which the license was originally issued. (Old Rule: Dec 31st. Check your specific license card to see if you have transitioned to the rolling date).
2. Renewal Window: Renewal notifications are sent via email approximately 60 days prior to expiration.
3. Online Portal: Renewal is completed through the New Hampshire OPLC Online Licensing portal.
4. Fees: The standard renewal fee is currently $170.00. (Fees are subject to change by the OPLC).
5. Audit: The Board conducts random audits (approx. 10% of licensees). If selected, you must upload your CE certificates to the online portal.
6. Lapsed License: If you fail to renew by your expiration date, your license lapses. You cannot practice until reinstated.
