Delaware Respiratory Therapy CE Requirements

20 Hours every 2 years - Total CE requirement for license renewal

• Total Requirement: 20 contact hours of continuing education are required every renewal period (biennium).
• Traditional/Live Hours: You must complete at least 10 hours through 'Traditional' methods. This is defined as programs attended either in person OR remotely via real-time interactive technology (live webinars) where you can ask questions of the presenter.
• Online/Self-Study Limit: A maximum of 10 hours can be obtained through 'Non-Traditional' methods (e.g., self-paced online courses, journal studies, videos without real-time interaction).
• Mandatory Topic: You must complete 1 hour of mandatory training in Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Reporting. This course is required every renewal cycle.
• Approved Sponsors: Courses approved by the AARC, AMA (Category 1), or the Delaware Society for Respiratory Care are automatically accepted.

Delaware License Renewal Process

1. Expiration Date: Licenses expire on November 30th of every even-numbered year (e.g., 2024, 2026).
2. Renewal Window: Renewal notices are sent via email several weeks before the expiration date.
3. Online Portal: Renewal is completed through the DELPROS (Delaware Professional Regulation Online Services) portal.
4. Fees: The standard renewal fee is approximately $101.00 - $105.00. (Fees are set by the Division of Professional Regulation and subject to change).
5. Audit: The Board conducts random audits. You must retain your CE certificates for at least 3 years (or one full renewal cycle plus one year).
6. Late Renewal: There is a 60-day late renewal period (ending Jan 31st) with an additional 50% late fee. If you miss this window, your license terminates and you must re-apply.
