Colorado Respiratory Therapy CE Requirements

• Total Requirement: Colorado currently has 0 mandatory Continuing Education (CE) hours required to renew an *active* Respiratory Therapist license.
• State vs. NBRC: While the state of Colorado does not require CEUs for your license, most employers (hospitals) require you to maintain your NBRC Credential (CRT/RRT), which *does* require 30 hours every 5 years. Do not let your NBRC credential lapse just because the state doesn't ask for hours.
• Reinstatement Penalty: If you fail to renew on time and your license expires, you will be required to submit 30 hours of continuing education (related to respiratory practice) to reinstate the license. These hours must have been earned within the 2 years preceding the reinstatement application.

Colorado License Renewal Process
