Arkansas Respiratory Therapy CE Requirements

12 Hours every 1 year - Total CE requirement for license renewal

• Total Requirement: 12 contact hours of acceptable continuing education are required annually (every year).
• Online/Self-Study: Arkansas does not limit the number of hours taken through online or home-study courses. You may technically complete all 12 hours via approved online methods.
• Mandatory Topics: There are currently 0 specific mandatory course topics (e.g., no specific ethics requirement) for Respiratory Care Practitioners. However, courses must be relevant to the clinical practice of respiratory care.
• Approved Sponsors: Programs approved by the AARC or the Arkansas Society for Respiratory Care are automatically accepted. The Board recommends choosing AARC-approved courses to ensure compliance.
• Advanced Life Support: You may claim credit for ACLS, PALS, or NRP certifications if they are newly earned or renewed during the current cycle.

Arkansas License Renewal Process

1. Expiration Date: Licenses expire Annually on the last day of your birth month.
2. Renewal Window: Renewal notices are typically sent via email 60 days prior to the expiration date.
3. Online Portal: Renewal is completed through the Arkansas State Medical Board online system.
4. Fees: The standard annual renewal fee is approximately $40.00.
5. Audit: The Board performs monthly random audits. You must retain your CE certificates for at least 3 years.
6. Late Renewal: Licenses not renewed by the last day of the birth month are considered delinquent. Reinstatement requires paying past due fees plus a penalty and submitting CEUs.
