Patient-centered care includes an emphasis on increasing consumers’ involvement in their treatment. A key goal of increased consumer engagement is to help assure better safety in care delivery. This presentation demonstrates the various ways in which patient and family involvement in care delivery can promote safety and how health care providers can encourage such involvement.
